Crazy Clouds!

Keisha borrowed a camera Wednesday night and did a wonderful job capturing the wild sky that afternoon. Keisha was a member of photo club last year and you can really tell she's had experience with the camera!

Great Start to the Week!

Quinton, Robin and Antonio are back at photo club after Cree Culture week and they took some stellar photos yesterday evening. Here they are!

To begin, we've got a few hilarious portraits. The first two are taken by Quinton, and the last two are taken by Robin.

Here is a collection of photos that does a neat job of looking at Waswanipi with new eyes. Highlighting shape and colour, Antonio (first photo) and Quinton (last three photos) show us the town from different angles.

Terry and Chris stopped by the other day and jammed with Terry's classic guitar. Fun times!

Everyone's welcome to stop by between classes and afterschool! See you soon!

October 20 and it's Snowing!

To celebrate the first day of BIG snow, I wanted to share some photos that were taken right before the landscape was transformed. Miah and Terry borrowed the cameras on Monday night, and here's what they came back with!

Miah captures a lovely view from the bluff, and experiments with camera angle to great effect in these 5 photos!

Terry works with composition and scale in these three photos!

Keep up the great work! Next post will surely show some snow!

Hot off the Press!

The very first edition of the Willie J. Happyjack High School News is hot off the press!
Newspaper club braved the cold and delivered it to various community spots around town. You can pick one up at the Band Office, the Post Office, the corner stores, the Clinic and the Vocational School. We will also be sending a copy home with each student when report cards go out.
But you get a sneak peek! You can check out the images below- just click on them to zoom in.
Enjoy! And remember to submit your work for the next edition. We accept drawings, photos, poems, short stories, comics, riddles, jokes, and more in English, French or Cree!

Secondary Four Photo Blitz

The last day before Moose Break was a quiet one. We visited the Secondary Four classroom and let them experiment with the cameras and interview each other. They came up with some stellar results!

Being in class, of course there was a lot of focus outside of the room: a small bird caught these guys' attention..

 Here's what Darius got

Joshua also caught it...

so did Patrick, in black and white.

Bringing the focus back to class, here are a few snapshots...

A camera battle began when

Darius zoomed in on Joshua

who zoomed back in on Darius

Joshua captures some laughs

Patrick plays with some neat framing and close ups.

Hope Moose Break was fun!

Mid-October, Already!?

The school year is passing so quickly! This week we had cameras taken out every night and the Artists of Waswanipi returned them with some great work. Check it out below!

Images of Fall

Chantal focused in close on some fall colour.

Eternity captured some early morning sun.

Selena also works with the sunburst a little later in the day.

Miah built a beautiful tri-coloured image.

Miah also caught this interesting perspective shot at the iconic Waswanipi bridge.

Experimenting with her flash, Miah gives us a romantic look at the evergreen tree.

Portraits

Eternity gets up close and personal with her dog and produces this humorous portrait.

The following series of portraits was taken by Meagan. She did a great job of snapping the character of her little relatives!

Continuing her experiments with light, Miah plays with shadows, to great effect!

Terry does a great job of framing movement, and of capturing a dynamic moment in this worker's day.

Traci fashions her own frame for Meagan, but wait, this isn't the first time she's done it! Here's an earlier photo, also by Traci, in which she experiments with alternate frames!

Great job this week! Next week we are sending home the first newspaper of the year where we showcase even more photos and writing from these students. If you want to participate come on out to the Youth Fusion office between classes or after school. Looking forward to hanging out!
